Organizations today are in a schizophrenic situation. They need individual talents to blossom while they confine them in unmerciful stressful competitiveness for the sake of survival. They want to create wealth but are confined in a global predator model for hunting the scarce money. They want global collective intelligence but are trapped into pyramidal collective intelligence because of cultural habits and stakeholders power. They value free abundant open source knowledge but make it scarce through proprietarization (licensing, patenting, intellectual property...).
Although human organizations might be composed of mature and evolved “cells” (individuals), the “collective brain” looks very much like the archaic brain that appeared in early life time on Earth, and the “collective being” behaves very much like predators. At the societal level composed of social species such as companies, governments, administrations, even NGOs, most action are driven by the law of the strongest. Main drivers are surviving, growing, gaining more territory, reproducing (spin offs, subsidiaries, new brands...), discarding competitors, eating preys (M&A), hunting for the scarce money, making symbiotic alliances. A short way to say it is that current organizations behave more like a lion than a Gandhi. Notice how this archaic predatory ideology is reflected in today's corporate language.
In the best case some organizations decide to stick to a set of ethical rules (such as CSR – corporate social responsibility for instance), but at a limited scale and because of external pressure triggered by market, legal or political issues. Let's not forget that ethics is not wisdom. Wisdom is an elevated, experiential state of consciousness. Ethics is a byproduct of wisdom that crystallizes in the mental/cultural space (noosphere).
Indeed most organizations today are seeking to build the highest possible collective intelligence, wisdom and consciousness (CIWC). How can they marry wisdom and competitiveness, highest individual potential and collective achievement, happiness and rationality?
Today the cutting-edge work for wisdom driven people is to build global wisdom driven organizations
Mainstream thinking still claims that wisdom and efficiency are two separate irreconcilable things. But more and more individuals and leaders today realize that elevated consciousness and wisdom is not just a good thing from the moral standpoint of view. Wisdom and elevated consciousness are the necessary shift to embrace today's challenges. This is true individually, this is true collectively.
An interesting sociological fact to notice and remember: the society and its organizations are more and more composed of cultural creatives (cf Paul Ray) who aim to reconcile their being and their doing, who want to work for projects that are spiritually meaningful, that have a direction toward the Good, the True, the Beautiful, that serve evolution of life and consciousness.
Building a small enlightened community is – and has always been – possible. It has to be kept in a confined environment in order to remain alive and not be destroyed by the surrounding lower levels of consciousness of the average society, mostly built around pyramidal collective intelligence. Resources to exchange with the external social ecosystem (food, memes, energy, etc) had to be carefully controlled. Such communities could also only work with a limited number of participants in original collective intelligence mode, the only available social architecture that could broadcast higher stages of collective consciousness.
If a community wanted to build big things, then it had to move into pyramidal intelligence, capable of massive external transformation but with quite limited collective wisdom.
Because they keep using the same social tools and architectures. Most of them belong to the paradigm of pyramidal collective intelligence. Same architecture, same collective outcome. Language, world views, memes, space configuration, monetary system, culture, values, law, behavioral patterns, time counting system, are social spaces shaped by such architectures. Most of them are invisible, i.e. not directly perceivable by our organic senses (see invisible architectures). Even trained spiritual masters are not aware of how deeply these architectures shape our perception and behavior at the collective level. This is particularly true about money.
Awaken individuals are dying to build organizations that can operate at the same level of consciousness they operate individually. They look for the right social architectures where everyone can act upon his/her true nature, follow divine inspiration, be surrounded by like peers.
Global wisdom driven organizations were just impossible a few years ago. But the arousal of cyberspace combined with social software (socialware) supported by spiritual practice allows large communities evolve in complex local and global environments without the need of centralization, territorial power, scarcity and social hierarchies. Global organizations can now be driven by collective intelligence, wisdom and consciousness.
It is time to train and support those who want to become the pioneers of Collective Intelligence, Wisdom and Consciousness (CIWC). This is the purpose of TheTransitioner and the seminars we offer.
